Victor Davis Hanson: The Hong Kong Blueprint Xi Wants to Force on Taiwan

Description

Donald Trump takes the stage at the UN General Assembly to confront adversarial regimes and reject globalist posturing. Republicans risk throwing away an economic boom by failing to counter progressive narratives, argue Victor Davis Hanson and Sammy Winc on today’s edition of “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words.” Drawing parallels to the 1992 election, Hanson cautions that solid fundamentals, including low poverty and rising per capita income, will be drowned out by paid social media influencers and midterm jitters over inflation and the ongoing war with Iran unless the GOP hones its message. They also dive into Beijing’s strategic dilemmas, analyzing Xi Jinping’s military purges and arguing that modern drone warfare is forcing China to pivot toward suffocating Taiwan through economic coercion rather than an outright assault.
