Victor Davis Hanson: Ilhan Omar and the Stakes of the Midterms

Description

The 2026 midterms will be a critical test of the direction of the Democratic Party and the future of American politics. From the questions and controversies surrounding Rep. Ilhan Omar to the economy, the war with Iran and the ongoing struggle over Ukraine, these issues raise serious questions about leadership, accountability and America’s national interests. Europe’s reluctance to support American efforts and the economic pressures facing Americans displays the challenges confronting the country. The midterms will be about more than individual candidates or policy disputes; they will help determine the direction of the nation and the balance of power in Congress.
