The Katipunan's Secret Women and the Birth of a Nation — Fexingo History

Paglalarawan

In this episode of The History of the Philippines, Lucas and Luna explore the vital but often overlooked role of women in the Katipunan, the secret revolutionary society that ignited the 1896 uprising against Spanish rule. While figures like Andrés Bonifacio and Emilio Aguinaldo are well-known, the women of the Katipunan—including Gregoria de Jesús, Melchora Aquino (Tandang Sora), and Trinidad Tecson—served as couriers, nurses, soldiers, and keepers of secrets. We delve into the founding of the Katipunan's women's section, the risks they took, and the cultural constraints they navigated. The episode also examines how the revolution challenged traditional gender roles and how these women have been remembered—or forgotten—in Philippine history. From safe houses in Manila to battlefields in Bulacan, discover the courageous women who fought for freedom and shaped the nation's identity.#Katipunan #PhilippineRevolution #WomenInHistory #GregoriaDeJesus #MelchoraAquino #TrinidadTecson #AndresBonifacio #1896Uprising #Philippines #HiddenFigures #GenderHistory #History #FexingoHistory #SoutheastAsia #ColonialHistory #Nationalism #RevolutionaryWomen #PinayHeroes #BanaueRiceTerraces #SpanishColonialismBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-history-of-the-philippines-empires-colonization-and-identity-fexingo-history--6985184/support.
