The Great Tragedy of Pakistan's First Prime Minister

Paglalarawan

This episode examines the political unraveling of Liaquat Ali Khan, Pakistan’s first Prime Minister, and the assassination that shook the new nation. We trace his early collaboration with Jinnah in the Muslim League, his role in drafting the Objectives Resolution, and his efforts to establish civilian authority against a powerful military bureaucracy. The narrative focuses on the tense summer of 1951, when Liaquat traveled to Rawalpindi to address a public rally, unaware of the conspiracy orchestrated by Abdur Rab Nishtar’s rivals and religious extremists. We explore the immediate aftermath of the shooting at the Minar-e-Pakistan, the shockwave it sent through the nascent state, and how his death accelerated the decline of democratic institutions. By looking at the specific tensions between civilian leadership and military power, we understand why this single event became a pivotal turning point in South Asian history. #LiaquatAliKhan #PakistanHistory #RawalpindiRally #MinarePakistan #FirstPrimeMinister #MuslimLeague #ObjectivesResolution #CivilianAuthority #MilitaryBureaucracy #SouthAsiaHistory #1951Assassination #AbdurRabNishtar #ChaudhryXavier #DemocracyInPakistan #PostPartition #FexingoHistory #HistoryPodcast #PoliticalStruggle Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
