Why Canada should deploy many more drones to fight wildfires

Description

Ryan Gariepy, VP of robotics at Rockwell Automation and chair of the Canadian Robotics Council, says Canada should make much greater use of drones to spot wildfires early and support firefighters on the ground. He argues the technology already exists, but it's being underused and could be better integrated across governments, industry, and the military. He also addresses where artificial intelligence fits in, the barriers to adoption, and whether robotics could help reduce the growing cost of wildfires.
