The First Filipino: Andres Bonifacio and the Katipunan — Fexingo History

Description

In this episode of Fexingo History, Lucas and Luna go beyond the familiar narrative of the Philippine Revolution to explore the life and ideals of Andres Bonifacio, the founder of the Katipunan. They discuss his humble origins as a clerk and messenger, his radical break from the reformist Propaganda Movement, and the secret society that ignited a nationwide uprising. The conversation covers the discovery of the Katipunan, the Cry of Pugad Lawin, Bonifacio's rivalry with Emilio Aguinaldo, and the tragic events at the Tejeros Convention that led to his execution. Along the way, they touch on the role of women in the Katipunan, the meaning of the Kartilya ng Katipunan, and the contested legacy of Bonifacio in Philippine history. This episode offers a nuanced look at a revolutionary who insisted that freedom must be won, not begged for.#AndresBonifacio #Katipunan #PhilippineRevolution #CryOfPugadLawin #TejerosConvention #EmilioAguinaldo #KartilyaNgKatipunan #PhilippineHistory #ColonialPhilippines #SpanishColonialism #Bonifacio #Supremo #PhilippineIndependence #RevolutionaryHistory #SoutheastAsia #History #FexingoHistory #Podcast #Philippines #BanaueRiceTerracesBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-history-of-the-philippines-empires-colonization-and-identity-fexingo-history--6985184/support.
