Roland Martin describes the failed effort as a political revolt fueled by fears that dismantling Black voting power and redistributing Black voters into Republican districts could ultimately cost the GOP seats and federal influence. The transcript repeatedly frames the collapse as Republicans realizing they still benefit from Clyburn’s seniority and influence in Congress. What began as a Trump power play ended with Republicans openly rebelling against the White House push.
