Russell Kane & Brian

Description

Matt Baker records The Petcast from his caravan at Goodwoof on the Goodwood Estate in West Sussex, welcoming comedian and presenter Russell Kane, who arrives with Brian the chihuahua, known from the children’s book When Brian Met Terry. Russell discusses touring with his dogs (including Pappy and Marty), his lifelong obsession with animals, and why Burmese cats are unusually dog-like, trainable, and prone to separation anxiety and jealousy—an experience that inspired his book’s theme of coping with a new arrival. He shares practical tips for introducing pets using scent items and side-by-side crates, plus childhood stories involving crickets, a garter snake, and a stick insect. Russell explains how Pet Selector helps families choose pets by lifestyle, recounts keeping a French lop rabbit as a “guard rabbit,” reflects on pet loss and cremation keepsakes, and finishes with the Petcast quiz.
