The Man and the Message: Taking Hold of the Power Behind Effective Gospel Preaching

After 30 plus years of pastoring, David Huston has concluded that preaching to the church is easy; the challenge of our day is preaching to the lost. How do we reach the people who don’t know Jesus? What will make our preaching more impactful? What are the secrets to greater anointing? Many books have been written about preaching, but this one focuses specifically on preaching the gospel to the unsaved in the power of the Spirit. The book begins by taking us deep into the Logos as the means by which God makes Himself known to man. After looking in detail at the Logos becoming flesh and laying down His life as the sacrifice for sins, Pastor Huston examines how God’s Spirit speaks to the lost by means of imperfect human preachers. Then, following an exploration of the deeper meaning of the gospel, he provides a bounty of practical tips and recommendations on message prep and effective pulpit preaching.Pastor Huston concludes with a call for every preacher of truth to be steadfast and immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, until the gospel has been preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations. Then, and only then, will the end come.Read more
