Electric Dreams Road Trip: An Electric Car Adventure

Join Paul and Robas they ditch their walking boots for something a little faster—an electric car. But not just any electric car, oh no—a first-generation Nissan Leaf. That’s right, ourintrepid duois setting out on a road trip across England to answer the ultimate question:Can you actually go on a road trip in an electric car?Spoiler alert: the answer might just be“sort of, but it’s complicated.”Will the car make it to the next charger? Will the charger evenexistwhen they get there? And if it does exist, will itactually work? As Paul and Rob discover, there are a lot of factors that determine whether they make it to the next destination, none of which have anything to do with theiractual driving skills. On theircrazy road trip, they stop off at some of the mostinteresting, weird, and downright bizarre placesEngland has to offer—because why not mix a bit ofhistorywith a lot ofelectric anxiety? They’re trying to travel from thesouth coast to the Scottish border, all while carefully avoiding the one thing they can’t handle—crossing a bridge(seriously, why are there so many bridges in England?).Along the way, they explore some of the mostbeautiful parts of the country, including some of England’slongest rivers—and spoiler: what you learned in school about them? Probably not true. They’ll take you to places likea church that isn’t really a church, graves of the rich and famous, andcastles and houses with more secrets than they can handle. Oh, and they’ll stumble uponthe world’s last smallpox victim, the spot where Churchill made his final D-Day decisions, and possiblythe only church in England with its own fire engine(because, obviously, that’s a thing). All of this, whiledesperately searching for electric chargers that actually work. (Is that too much to ask?)So buckle up for afun-filled, history-packed adventurethrough the heart of England. Whether you’re here for the quirky history, the electric car drama, or just to laugh at their misfortune—this book’s got it all.Read more
