This human rights lawyer is sanctioned by Trump - he's fighting back.

تفصیل

It’s been over six months since the Trump administration sanctioned Palestine’s oldest human rights organisation– but it hasn’t stopped the group from doing what it’s done for decades. Al-Haq is a non-governmental observer group based in the West Bank city of Ramallah in the West Bank, that works to collect legally viable first-hand testimonies of human rights atrocities in real time. Amnesty International says: “They are the voice of Palestinian victims, amplifying stories of injustice that would otherwise remain unheard.” In 2021, Israel branded Al-Haq a terrorist organisation, alleging links with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. The C.I.A reviewed Israel’s classified intelligence and found no evidence to confirm Israel's ruling. And then in November last year, Trump sanctioned Al Haq for working with the International Criminal Court. The White House had levied sanctions on the court after it issued arrest warrants for Israeli ministers Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant, along with Hamas leaders. Shawan Jabarin is Al-Haq’s director. Usually based in the West Bank, he is currently on a work trip in London– but before he went to Westminster, he stopped by Middle East Eye’s studio.
