It was never commercially published; only 200 copies were printed for the author’s friends and associates. It details the author’s day-to-day activities and hardships, as well as anecdotes about the Garibaldians and Garibaldi himself, all witnessed first-hand by someone who served as a guide to the general.Reading about the everyday activities behind major historical events adds color and texture to those events and makes you feel as though you are there.
