Asleep (Drifting) Book One: A boy’s nightmare. A man’s redemption. Based on the true story of survival, trauma, and hope.

As seen on Yahoo NewsAt five years old, Robert’s world was already on fire.Growing up in New Mexico with an abusive, unpredictable mother and a revolving door of strangers, he faced the kind of chaos no child should ever know. Violence, neglect, betrayal—these were the foundations of his earliest memories. Only in the arms of his grandmother and aunt did he feel brief moments of safety.Asleep (Drifting) Book One pulls back the curtain on a childhood shaped by trauma and survival. With unfiltered honesty, Robert invites you into the heartbreaking, confusing, sometimes shockingly absurd world he endured. His vivid storytelling will make you ache for him, root for him, and—against all odds—laugh with him during the rare flashes of light that broke through the darkness. But this is more than a memoir of suffering. It’s a story of resilience. It’s about the boy who refused to disappear, the young man who searched for comfort in all the wrong places, and the adult who fought his way back toward healing, purpose, and redemption. Raw, gripping, and deeply human, Asleep (Drifting) is a reminder that even in the most broken places, hope can survive.Perfect for readers who love:· True stories of survival and triumph· Memoirs that confront trauma with honesty and heart· Narratives that explore addiction, healing, and generational cycles· Writing that is emotional, cinematic, and fiercely authenticPraise for Asleep (Drifting):“Robert Paul takes you through a journey that gives you a plethora of emotions… This book will stay with me for quite some time.
