Description

Mario. Link. Pikachu. These aren't just video game characters — they’re some of the most recognizable figures on the planet. For nearly 50 years, Nintendo has been building loyalty to its worlds, and now it's turning that nostalgia into a global entertainment empire. The success of “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” which grossed more than $1.3 billion worldwide, along with the company's theme-park collaboration with Universal, is helping create a universe that competes with the likes of Disney. Now, with a second Mario film coming out this year and a long-awaited live-action “Legend of Zelda” movie in the pipeline, the momentum is growing. Watch the video above to learn more about Nintendo’s big bets beyond gaming. This is the third installment in the “Built for Billions” three-part series on Nintendo. Don’t miss part one, where we explore Nintendo’s business model, and part two, where we explore the gaming company’s console evolution.
