WATCH: 'WHY SHOULD WE TRUST INDIA?' MEA Secretary Schools Norwegian Reporter Straight 17 Min

Description

OSLO- India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) strongly defended the country’s democratic institutions and human rights record during a tense diplomatic press briefing in Oslo, countering critical questioning from a Norwegian journalist over global trust and media freedom. Responding to questions raised by Hella from the Norwegian newspaper Dagsavisen regarding domestic human rights safeguards and prime ministerial press interactions, MEA Secretary (West) Sibi George rejected targeted external criticism, attributing human rights allegations to a "lack of understanding" shaped by "ignorant NGOs". The senior Indian diplomat underscored that India's constitutional framework explicitly guarantees fundamental rights and judicial recourse for all citizens, while highlighting New Delhi’s proactive global contributions—including extensive vaccine diplomacy and the integration of the African Union into the G20—as the true benchmarks of India's international reliability and rising leadership. #meaindia , #sibigeorge, #norwaypress, #pmmodinorway, #indianforeignpolicy, #indiaschoolsreporter, #breakingnews, #globalnews, #diplomacy, #geopolitics, #indianelections, #democracyscale, #humanrightstruth, #g20india, #indiaspeaks Moneycontrol is India’s leading financial portal, offering market news, expert analysis, and powerful tools.
