The Truth About World War II, Henry Ford’s Controversial Past, and America’s Atomic Decisions

Description

What was America’s plan after Hiroshima and Nagasaki? Victor Davis Hanson and Sami Winc dive into the final days of World War II and questions about whether the United States came close to deploying additional nuclear weapons. In today’s edition of “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words,” Victor and Sami dive into many historical topics, from World War II to Henry Ford, and current discussions such as the tensions between the U.S. and Canada and updates on the Iran war. They explore Henry Ford’s connections to Nazi Germany, the heroism of American soldiers during World War II, and the competing military strategies of Gen. Douglas MacArthur and Adm. Chester Nimitz in the Pacific. Hanson also criticizes Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney over escalating tensions with President Donald Trump, warning that Canada's trade policies, growing relationship with China, and dependence on American military protection could have serious economic and national security consequences. The episode also examines the ongoing Iran war, rising gas prices, and Europe's reluctance to support American military operations. Hanson warns of the dangers of a nuclear-armed Iran and questions the long-term consequences of the conflict for global energy markets.
