Description
When Sarah met Celestina, she immediately sensed a heaviness. At the clinic in Angola, Celestina sat beside her granddaughter — a baby who carries her name. Also there was Augustino, her grandson, suffering from severe malnutrition. He did not survive. Later, Sarah learned Celestina’s story: she has buried 10 of her 11 children. The only surviving daughter is baby Celestina’s mother. This isn’t just a story about one family. It’s a glimpse into the long shadow of instability and conflict in Angola, much of it rooted in the Cold War era, when global powers battled for influence and ordinary families bore the cost. The ripples of war do not end when headlines fade. They echo through generations. They show up in fragile babies. In empty chairs. In grandmothers carrying unbearable grief. We are praying baby Celestina makes it. Thank you for helping us stand in the gap for families living with the collateral damage of conflict.
