Description
Pumpkins have been grown in North America for over 7,000 years! Native Americans used them for food, medicine, and even mats made from dried strips. When European settlers arrived, they learned to cook with pumpkins too, using them for soups, breads, and pies. Over time, pumpkins became part of fall harvest celebrations and later a symbol of Halloween. Today, people carve pumpkins into jack-o’-lanterns and bake them into delicious treats.
