Description

Now I enjoyed this one, The Aluminium Dagger, more and more as I read it. It really has everything, and although our palates may be a bit jaded by such detective tropes and themes, this must have been rather a novel eye-opener to readers of the genre in 1910. It exudes a certain modernity due to the subject matter and there are also some interesting insights into contemporary morality and general London life. The clerk mucking about with a toy when he should have been working has a very up-to-date ring to it! Anyhoo... it's read by me, Greg Wagland for Magpie Audio. It's cold outside, and although I should take a walk I am considering ''getting myself on the outside' of my second mince pie in this long lead up to Christmas. Why not? Physician - treat thyself! Cheers. All the best. And of course, if you can be remotely bothered please subscribe. Meanwhile those minded to send me their life savings, there is a Patreon link somewhere on this site! Seek and ye probably shall... I have also started to doubt my proud and unwavering commitment to the pronunciation of 'diachroic' ink, and not bothering to look it up! Slackness incoming!! Artwork: Henry Fuseli 'The Macbeths'. (Well, it's got daggers in it, although possibly not aluminium) I remember he did that very creepy painting 'The NIghtmare'.
