Stunning development in Alex Murdaugh murder case | 48 Hours

Description

Editor's Note: On May 13, 2026, the South Carolina Supreme Court overturned Alex Murdaugh’s double murder convictions and granted him a new trial. The court held that Murdaugh was denied the right to a fair trial, including an impartial jury, due to the actions of County Clerk of Court Rebecca Hill. Murdaugh was convicted in March 2023 for killing his wife, Maggie, and son, Paul, at the family's estate in 2021. Murdaugh also pleaded guilty to a series of financial crimes in September 2023 and was sentenced to 40 years in prison. "The Trial of Alex Murdaugh" originally aired in August 2023. True crime.
