S4 E7: The Cursed Stadium

Description

Season 4 — Episode 7: The Cursed Stadium — Ghosts of the Rizal Memorial Coliseum. Beneath the floodlights and flags of one of Manila’s proudest arenas lies a darker history—war, mass graves, and restless memories that won’t stay buried. As the Southeast Asian Games approach, athletes, groundskeepers, and night-shift staff report cold spots, flickering lights, phantom footsteps, and apparitions: a soldier in uniform on the track, a white lady on the balcony, children laughing from the tunnels, and a pale figure at the poolside. Is it a curse born of disturbed ground, a psychological storm fueled by pressure and rumor, or something that truly refuses to move on? Tonight we walk the dim corridors of the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex and trace its layered past—from Art Deco grandeur to wartime bloodshed—and the rituals, offerings, and priestly blessings meant to calm whatever lingers. Listener submissions weave through the episode: athletes who fell ill after night practices, security guards who heard voices in empty halls, and teams who left candles, coins, and prayers in the corners. Whether you believe in spirits, psychology, or both, the coliseum asks a hard question: who owns a place built on sorrow—the victors, the living crowd, or the silent dead? Trigger warning: This episode contains scenes and themes some listeners may find deeply unsettling. Listener discretion is advised. Submit your encounters to stories ph podcast@gmail.com.
