Project 7 to 1 Podcast: Trapped in the Eastwood Condo Fire | Dwight Santos

Description

In this episode of the Project 7 to 1 Podcast, Carlo Ople sits down with Dwight Santos, a resident of Olympic Heights in Eastwood City, to recount his firsthand experience during the recent condominium fire that forced hundreds of residents to evacuate.Dwight walks listeners through the tense moments as thick smoke spread throughout the building, the confusion during the evacuation, and what residents witnessed as emergency responders worked to bring the situation under control. Beyond the headlines, he shares the human side of the incident—from checking on neighbors and navigating the evacuation to dealing with the uncertainty of returning home. The conversation also explores Dwight’s view that the mainstream coverage did not capture the full scope of what residents experienced. He discusses reports from fellow residents that several people were hospitalized, with some allegedly requiring intensive care, and why he believes these aspects of the incident received little to no public attention. Through his firsthand account and the stories shared within the community, the episode aims to provide listeners with a perspective beyond what was widely reported. The discussion also raises broader questions about emergency preparedness in high-rise condominiums, fire safety protocols, crisis communication, and the responsibilities of property developers and building management during emergencies. It’s a timely and eye-opening conversation that goes beyond the news cycle to explore what it’s really like to live through a major residential emergency.
