Description

#TrueCrimeSouthAfrica #SouthAfricanTrueCrime #ZoliswaNkonyana #genderequality Hello episode 42 of Makeup & Mayhem: True Crime with Bella Monsoon…me! Also, happy Pride Month 🏳️‍🌈 ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 This month, I will be covering only LGBTQI+ victims and related crimes to pay honour to their memories. However often with content covering these topics in particular- my videos are almost always not monetized and thus their reach is also limited. I want to implore you all today and ask something that I normally never do. If you feel moved by any of the episodes I will be sharing this month, please tag a friend, share the link and help me to get their narratives out there. Thank you 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 About the episode: In a country where gender rights have been legislated and same-sex marriage has been legal since 2006- making it the first African country to do so- here in South Africa we claim to have a constitutiion that protects against discrimination based on sexual orientation. But the hate crime statistics and cases paint a different picture. Although Cape Town is seen and recognized as a city that embraces all members of society no matter their orientation- just a 15 minute drive out of the city- everything changes. Here, in Khayelitsha- being your true self is dangerous and sometimes deadly. It was the case for one woman- in the prime of her life with so much more living to do. Her life was tragically and violently ended- for no reason other than pure contempt and hatred.   This is the heartbreaking case of Zoliswa Nkonyana Oh If you’re new to the channel, here it is in a nutshell. I’m a mental health professional, true crime fanatic AND makeup lover. Inspired by the Youtube True Crime & Beauty movement- I decided to combine the three and bring you the potential psychological motives behind real life crimes whilst completing an easy to create makeup look (every alternate week that is!)
