What was I thinking when I invited James Caraan of the KoolPals to my podcast??Well, in my 35 years as a journalist, I've met, interviewed, interacted with thousands upon thousands of all kinds of people, and I have made no judgements of them. As a matter of fact, some them have become my friends. ... So, why shouldn't I inteview James, who I met at TPN's media launch in February. I had wanted all the KoolPals hosts but then I was told: "si James na muna" - maybe so I wouldn't get overwhelmed?And what a revelation he was. Both his parents are deaf, his only brother has Downs Syndrome, he wanted to be a reporter/journo/newscaster -but only as a path to standup comedy, how he was "banca ng barkada", paano sya nagkunwaring "commentator" ng village basketnball, that KoolPals can be "bastos" but that they're an "acquired taste", wild dreams for the future like filling the Philippine Arena and doing an election debate!And the inevitable happened: I enjoyed every moment of the 51 minutes and 13 seconds of the interview with James.
