ODM IN CRISIS? Oburu Offers to Quit as Junet Vanishes as Ruto 2027 Endorsement Sparks Civil War

Description

ODM's latest gathering in Kisumu has triggered fresh questions about the future of Kenya's largest opposition party after senior leaders skipped a key meeting and Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga made a shocking offer to step down as party leader. Speaking at Kirembe Grounds in Kisumu West, Oburu openly expressed concern over growing divisions within ODM and said he was prepared to relinquish his position if it was the source of internal conflict. He also revealed that he never sought the party leadership position, saying Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir and Kisii Governor Simba Arati proposed his name before members endorsed him. The event took an even more dramatic turn when members of the Luo community publicly backed President William Ruto's 2027 re-election bid. Meanwhile, the absence of several senior ODM leaders including Junet Mohamed, Otiende Amollo, Millie Odhiambo, Ruth Odinga and Winnie Odinga fueled speculation about growing cracks within the Orange party. With ODM's constitution making the party leader the automatic presidential candidate, Oburu's remarks have opened a new debate about succession, leadership, and the future of ODM in a post-Raila era. Is ODM losing its national identity? Is a succession battle brewing? What does Junet Mohamed's absence mean? And how will these developments shape the road to the 2027 General Election?
