NBI, PNP could file charges vs Aplasca, Robin over Bato escape - Carpio | DZMM Teleradyo

Description

Courtesy of DZMM Teleradyo. Retired Supreme Court senior associate justice Antonio Carpio says several personalities could face charges of obstruction of justice for preventing the serving of a warrant of arrest against Sen. Bato Dela Rosa and helping him escape. Carpio said the NBI and PNP could file the charges, which could then be taken over by the DOJ. He singled out Senate Sergeant-At-Arms Mao Aplasca for stopping law enforcers from serving the arrest warrant. Asked if Sen. Robin Padilla is also liable, he said: “Physically he participated kasi it looks like sumakay sa kotse niya. He spirited out Bato out of the Senate.” Carpio said the charge of crime against humanity is a crime with universal jurisdiction. “Kahit anong bansa na makita ma-aresto itong tao na ito [Bato], can acquire jurisdiction and prosecute. So sinasabi nila walang jurisdiction dahil wala pang warrant of arrest from a local court, hindi totoo yan,” he said.
