Julius Malema, EFF Commander in Chief and convicted felon, addressed thousands of supporters at the EFF Workers Day Rally in Marikana on 1 May 2026, weeks after receiving a five year prison sentence from Magistrate Twanet Olivier at the KuGompo City Magistrates Court. During the speech, Malema attacked the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, dismissed WhatsApp evidence naming him as CIC Juju in an alleged R2.9 billion Tshwane security tender fraud, declared no white woman can determine his destiny, and confirmed his appeal against the sentence is motivated by his family circumstances.
