Lebanon war: Has Trump completely lost control of Netanyahu?

Description

The capture of Beaufort Castle on Sunday, was the most tangible marker of Israel’s military progression. The 12th-century castle was built during the Crusades and marks the deepest incursion into Lebanon for more than 25 years. Then on Monday, Israel’s defence minister, Israel Katz, announced Beirut would be coming under resumed fire after all. Roads leading out of the city’s southern suburbs have since been choked with cars, as people seek to escape. Many had just returned home weeks before. Aid groups warn of a humanitarian crisis in Lebanon, with one million people displaced since the regional war began. Here to break down the latest escalation is Fawaz Gerges - Professor of International Relations at the London School of Economics and Political Science, and Israeli journalist Gideon Levy.
