Description
Explore India on the Megalithomania Grand Tour in January 2027: https://www.megalithomania.co.uk/india.html. Hirebenakal Dolmens are located on a granite hilltop a few miles from the sacred Hindu city of Hampi. These go back to the Iron Age, and people are not sure who built them, although legends state that dwarfs once lived in them. What is also interesting is the fact that they seem to be sliced granite, almost laser-cut perfectly or with a diamond-tipped saw. Many of the dolmens have holes carved out of them, a tradition we find in other parts of the world, including Gobekli Tepe and megalithic sites in Britain and Europe.
