She reported that the economy remained on track, with GDP growing by 5.7% in 1989. Foreign investments surged to ₱17.48 billion, a 75% increase over the previous year, while the country’s foreign debt fell by 4.3%, easing from US$27.8 billion in 1988 to US$26.6 billion by early 1989.
