Europe’s extreme heatwaves here to stay as continent heats the fastest

Description

Europe is heating up faster than any other continent on Earth and the consequences are becoming impossible to ignore. Five of the continent’s hottest years on record have all occurred within the past seven years, highlighting the accelerating pace of climate change. From scorching heatwaves to devastating droughts and raging wildfires, the impact is already being felt across the region. Last year, temperatures in Portugal soared to a staggering 46 degrees Celsius, while areas inside the Arctic Circle recorded temperatures above 30 degrees. A new climate report warns that rising temperatures across Europe are driving more extreme weather events, putting communities, ecosystems, and infrastructure under growing pressure. So, as the climate crisis intensifies, what can actually be done to slow down the rise in extreme temperatures in Europe?
