EP18: Hell and High Water: The 1991 Ormoc Tragedy | Philippines’ Most Shocking Stories

Description

Hosted by reporter Jessie Cruzat, this episode revisits the 1991 Ormoc flash flood, one of the deadliest natural disasters in Philippine history. On November 5, 1991, torrential rains triggered by Tropical Storm Uring caused the Anilao and Malbasag rivers to swell beyond capacity. In a matter of hours, more than 5,000 people were killed, thousands more were injured or displaced, and entire communities were wiped out. “Philippines’ Most Shocking Stories” is a YouTube series from ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs that looks back into real-life events that stunned the nation — stories that made headlines, triggered investigations and sparked public outcry.
