Comparison Is Stealing Your Joy - Matthew S5E10

Description

Comparison has a way of convincing us that God owes us more. But in Matthew 20, Jesus tells the Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard to reveal a completely different way of thinking. God's Kingdom doesn't operate on merit. It operates on grace. In this episode of Deepen, Pastor Joby Martin and Pastor Ona unpack why comparison steals our joy, how entitlement blinds us to God's goodness and why the greatest reward isn't what God gives us, but that we get Him. Whether you've followed Jesus for decades or are just beginning your faith journey, this conversation is a reminder that God's grace is never earned and His plans are always better than our own. ⏱️ Timestamps: 00:00 Intro 00:17 What Does a "Good Sermon" Really Look Like? 02:04 Why Does Jesus Tell the Parable of the Workers? 04:32 Why Does the Master Hire Workers Differently? 07:19 Why Were Some Workers Still Waiting? 08:19 Why Did the Workers Become Dissatisfied? 11:23 Why Is Comparison Always a Lose-Lose? 15:23 What's the Difference Between Identity and Productivity? 18:11 How Should Christians View Their Work? 24:38 What Does God Do When We Complain? 25:28 Why Isn't Fairness a Biblical Value? 27:27 When Do We Start Resenting God's Blessings? 30:47 Is God's Design Really Better Than Ours? 38:03 Is It Ever Too Late to Come to Jesus? 43:56 What Does "The Last Will Be First" Mean? 45:06 How Does Grace Change Everything? 46:44 Final Thoughts 📖 Scripture References: • Matthew 20:1–16 • Matthew 19:16–30 • Psalm 84:10 • Romans 6:23 • John 10:10 • Luke 23:39–43 • Hebrews 12:2 • Revelation 3:15–16 📌 Supplemental Resources From This Week: • Sermon • Life Change Through the Pando App • This Week’s Full Service • Matthew Season 5 The Church of Eleven22® is a movement for all people to discover and deepen a relationship with Jesus Christ.
