Charlton Heston - Documentary - 2013 - Multiple Subtitles - SN ARCHIVES - 4K

Description

Charlton Heston (1923-2008) is a name synonymous with cinematic power. From his monumental roles as Moses in The Ten Commandments, the iconic titular character in Ben-Hur, and the valiant hero in El Cid, Heston defined an era of epic cinema. Yet, this public persona often overshadowed his profound and enduring passion for classical theatre, particularly the works of William Shakespeare. Heston's artistic aspirations were forged not in Hollywood but in the hallowed halls of theatre. After training at Northwestern University, he and his wife, Lydia Clarke, founded a small touring theatre company, a testament to their commitment to the art form. This dedication to the craft led to foundational Shakespearean stage performances in roles like Macbeth and Hamlet, his two participations as Mark Antony in the Julius Caesar films of 1950 and 1970, and later to his crucial decision to write and direct his own film adaptation of Antony and Cleopatra. This BBC documentary, Talking Pictures: Charlton Heston (2013), provides an essential look at the life and career of the Hollywood legend, told in his own words. Through a rich collection of archival interviews, Heston candidly shares how his dedication to the Bard and the craft of acting shaped every aspect of his iconic screen presence. Watch the full film to gain a new perspective on an icon and understand why the stage, and Shakespeare, remained at the heart of his extraordinary work.
