Description

In this Batje’s Take reflection, Batje Chibafa shares her personal thoughts following a powerful conversation with Zimbabwean actress, playwright, and creative entrepreneur Chiedza Rwodzi. One idea from the discussion stood out: in a world where creative work travels across borders, identity becomes an anchor. As African creatives increasingly take their stories to global stages, the question of authenticity becomes even more important. How do you remain rooted in who you are while navigating international opportunities, audiences, and expectations? In this short reflection, Batje explores the importance of identity, authenticity, and cultural grounding in building a global creative career. She reflects on what it means to tell stories that are both locally rooted and globally resonant and why knowing who you are may be the most important foundation for any career journey.
