A Day In North Norfolk - Burnham Market, Burnham Deepdale + Brancaster Beach

Join me for a full day exploring the beautiful North Norfolk coast as I visit Burnham Market, Burnham Deepdale, and Brancaster Beach. I grew up in Norwich, but somehow I’ve barely explored this part of my home county—so today I’m fixing that. Don't get me wrong, I have visited many places in Norfolk, but North Norfolk always seemed to be out of reach due to the length of time to travel there, compared to distances in Canada, where I live now, this is only down the road! I start the morning wandering through the historic village of Burnham Market, known for its Georgian architecture, indie shops and cafés, and its connection to Admiral Lord Nelson. After breakfast at Tilly’s Café, I explore the village green, quiet lanes, and classic Norfolk buildings before heading further along the coast. Next up is Burnham Deepdale, home to one of the UK’s most well-known independent backpacker hostels, plus a great little market square and a historic round-tower church. This place has a totally different vibe—more outdoorsy, more backpacker-friendly, and a great stop on the Norfolk Coast Path. To finish the day, I head to Brancaster Beach, one of the most stunning beaches in Norfolk. With dunes, wildlife, salt marshes, and huge open sand, it’s an incredible spot for a peaceful walk—especially outside peak season. There’s even a Roman fort just inland!
