The conversation examines religiously motivated attacks under al-Sharaa's new regime and the Sunni jihadist ideology driving the violence. They focus on the struggles faced by Christians, Druzes, and Alawites, and emphasize the need for international action to protect these vulnerable groups. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Produced by Christian Solidarity International Theme music by Matt & Katie Gustafson ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Some takeaways: - The fall of Assad led to initial celebrations but quickly turned to fear. - Violence against religious minorities has escalated since Assad's departure. - The Druze community is particularly vulnerable to government violence. - Christians in Syria are facing new threats, despite not having been directly targeted so far. - The international community's response has been inadequate to prevent atrocities. - There is a shared concern among different religious groups in Syria. - The ideology of jihadist groups poses a significant threat to minorities. - Massacres this year have raised alarms about potential genocide. - Advocacy and awareness are crucial for the protection of religious minorities.
