In this episode of Gearhaus, we’re joined by CJ, a filmmaker and lifelong Land Rover enthusiast who literally has "land in his blood." If you’ve ever considered owning one of these iconic machines, this is the reality check you need.We dive deep into the highs and lows of Defender ownership—from the nostalgic heritage and the undeniable "cool factor" that turns heads everywhere, to the brutal truth about rust traps, leaking panels, and the "abusive relationship" that defines owning a vintage Landi. What we cover in this episode:Land Rover News: Our take on Ferrari’s new "fake manual" and Audi’s pivot to China-specific designs. The Defender Reality: Why buying a moving car is the #1 rule and how to avoid the common pitfalls of sourcing a project. The "Puma" Engine: Why CJ prefers the refined (but finicky) 2.4/2.2 engines and the truth about 3.2 Ford swaps.Building a Legend: A look at CJ’s two very different builds—the daily-driven black utility beast and the "beach-ready" open-top Sunday cruiser.Life in a Landi: Dealing with 6’4” ergonomics, the lack of AC, and why you’ll always need sunscreen on your right arm.Whether you're a purist who loves the smell of oil and coolant or a skeptic who sticks to Japanese reliability, this conversation is about more than just cars—it’s about character.Follow Gearhaus on:Website: https://www.itsgearhaus.com/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@itsgearhausInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/itsgearhaus/Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/gearhaus/id1839239303WhatsApp: https://www.whatsapp.com/channel/0029Vb7MoK22Jl8Epvkjrz2IGearhaus is a Palahala Media Group production.
