Danny asks about NASA's proposed nuclear Mars test, the idea of cutting travel time from six months to six weeks, and why the nuclear system would not be used to launch from Earth, but to push a spacecraft once it is already in space. The conversation also gets into the real bottlenecks for Mars: radiation, return missions, slow mission planning, the 2033 Earth-Mars window, and whether the Moon becomes the launchpad for deeper space travel. Alyssa lays out why NASA is unlikely to make the first Mars mission one-way, and why Artemis may be the stepping stone before humans can safely reach Mars.
