The Manunggul Jar and Early Filipino Beliefs — Fexingo History

Описание

This episode of The History of the Philippines explores the Manunggul Jar, a 2,000-year-old burial artifact discovered in the Tabon Caves complex in Palawan. Lucas and Luna discuss what the jar's intricate design—featuring a boat and two figures—reveals about pre-colonial Filipino spiritual beliefs, including concepts of the soul, the afterlife, and the influence of Austronesian maritime culture. They also touch on the jar's discovery by Robert Fox in the 1960s, its significance as a National Treasure, and how it connects to broader Austronesian funerary practices. The conversation provides insight into the sophisticated cosmology of early Filipinos before the arrival of Islam and Christianity.#ManunggulJar #TabonCaves #Palawan #PrecolonialPhilippines #Austronesian #FilipinoBeliefs #RobertFox #BurialJar #NationalTreasure #SoulBoat #AncestorWorship #Archaeology #AncientPhilippines #MaritimeCulture #SpiritWorld #History #FexingoHistory #PhilippineHeritage #Philippines #BanaueRiceTerracesBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-history-of-the-philippines-empires-colonization-and-identity-fexingo-history--6985184/support.
