O Salutaris Hostia (O Saving Victim) | Traditional Latin Hymn | Catholic Lent Song | Choir w/ Lyrics

Описание

O Salutaris Hostia (“O Saving Victim”) is a sacred Latin hymn written by St. Thomas Aquinas in the 13th century for the Office of the Blessed Sacrament. It is traditionally sung during Benediction and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, reflecting deep reverence for Christ’s saving sacrifice made present in the Eucharist. Its hauntingly beautiful melody and timeless Latin text lift hearts in prayer, especially fitting for the First Sunday of Lent, when the Church begins her journey of repentance, prayer, and renewal through the grace flowing from Christ’s sacrifice. Recorded live by the Sunday 7pm Choir at St. Francis de Sales Parish in Ajax, ON Canada. Thanks for listening and God bless! 🙏 Song Title: O Salutaris Hostia Artist(s): Text by St. Thomas Aquinas; Gregorian chant melody (traditional) Publisher: Public Domain Where to Purchase: Licensed choral and chant editions are available through https://www.cpdl.org Lyrics: O salutaris Hostia, Quae caeli pandis ostium: Bella premunt hostilia, Da robur, fer auxilium. Uni trinoque Domino Sit sempiterna gloria, Qui vitam sine termino Nobis donet in patria. Amen. O saving Victim, opening wide, The gate of heaven to man below! Our foes press on from every side; Thine aid supply, thy strength bestow. To Thy great name by endless praise, Immortal Godhead, one in Three; Oh, grant us endless length of days, In our true native land with Thee.
