Gary Neville: My England Regret, Rio Ban Strike & Why I’ll Never Leave Manchester

Описание

"This is Gary Neville as you’ve never seen him before - sitting with Rio in his Airbnb and opening up about some hugely personal topics including the loss of his father, the abuse he suffered when out on the street with his family and why he should never have pursued a coaching or managerial career. Despite Rio’s best efforts, Neville is typically self-deprecating about his own playing ability and instead focuses on the greatness around him - both in terms of mentality as well as the players who were technically brilliant. He gives insight into how the England setup changed from his time as a player to when he coached the national team under Roy Hodgson - and there’s huge praise for Harry Kane’s attitude and “seriousness” about the way he approaches football at the highest level. This episode is the very first time that Rio and Neville have discussed the time that Gary brought the England players together and threatened to strike because of the way Rio was treated by the FA which leads to a brutal and honest reflection on Neville's actions as the team’s union rep. Plus there’s detailed analysis on fellow Right-Back Trent Alexander-Arnold’s lack of International career - are England mishandling a generational talent? Or does he need to improve parts of his game to be considered for selection. 00:00 Harry Kane's Legacy & Introduction 00:16 Rio Meets Gary Neville in Manchester 01:00 Why Gary Neville Always Underrates Himself 02:16 His Greatest Achievement at Manchester United 03:40 From Midfielder to Right Back: Career-Changing Advice 05:36 Life After Football & Building Businesses 07:00 Work Ethic, Inspiration & Never Slowing Down 08:17 Playing for England & The Golden Generation 09:30 Why Neville Didn't Sing the National Anthem 12:49 Rio Ferdinand's Drug Test Ban & The Strike Threat 17:44 Leadership Lessons from Tony Adams & Sir Alex Ferguson 19:44 Manchester United's Legendary Team Spirit & Christmas Parties 21:29 Sir Alex vs England: Club vs Country 24:49 Coaching England, Valencia & Learning to Say No 26:
