My breakdown reveals which positions and stats actually matter at each draft turn, with practical consequences for roster construction in 9-category head-to-head formats.KEY TAKEAWAYSPunting in category leagues just means ignoring one or more categories entirely, concentrating your resources in others, and not actively seeking to become bad in the punted stat. It's not about loading up on the "worst" players for that category, but about narrowing your focus so you can build dominance elsewhere.Punting is not inherently complicated or risky—it's often easier and more effective than trying to be average in everything. You don't have to chase the worst in a given category, and you definitely don't have to lose that stat every week. The idea of "pairing" your first-round pick with the perfect second-round companion is nonsense.
