1 Corinthians 5 Bible Study | Church Discipline, Holiness, and Unrepentant Sin | World English Bible

Описание

In this Bible study, we continue our journey through First Corinthians chapters 1 through 5, focusing on 1 Corinthians chapter 5 using the World English Bible translation. The apostle Paul writes to the church in Corinth because they were struggling with division, pride, spiritual immaturity, worldly wisdom, and now serious unrepentant sin within the church. In 1 Corinthians chapter 5, Paul confronts a painful situation: a man in the church is involved in sexual immorality, and instead of mourning, the church has become arrogant. Paul teaches that grace does not make sin acceptable, and that holiness still matters among God’s people. This chapter helps us understand the biblical purpose of church discipline. Discipline is not about cruelty or harshness. It is about the seriousness of sin, the purity of the church, and the hope of restoration. Paul is not speaking about repentant believers who are struggling and seeking help. He is addressing open, serious, unrepentant sin among someone who claims to be a brother. This study also reminds us that Christians are not called to separate from every sinner in the world. Paul makes it clear that believers are still called to live in the world while refusing to tolerate open rebellion against God inside the church.
