Learning How to Consult Effectively

Learning How to Consult Effectively is full of practical, powerful solutions from the Divine Physician, a source we can trust. It gives lots of examples and stories to inform us of the Bahá’í concept of consultation, and is relevant for individuals, families and Baha’i Institutions. In it you will discover the attitudes, barriers and benefits of effective consultation. You will learn the role of criticism and handling disagreements; understand how to make good decisions (including a section on situations relating to abuse and violence); what it means to meet with an Assembly, and what to expect from this consultation before, during and after the meeting. You will understand the importance of confidentiality, learn about common communication problems and Bahá’í solutions for each of them, and finally you will be able to complete a checklist for effective consultation, to determine how effective your communication skills are. In this way, you will be able to clearly see your weaknesses and strengths, so that you can build effectively on what you already have. When you learn to apply these spiritual tools, you will be amazed to see transformation in every interaction you have with people. You will change the world for the better, one heart at a time.Read more
