COMMON SENSE GOVERNANCE: Fixing the Cracks in the Capitol Dome

Our federal government, particularly the US Congress, is a dysfunctional mess. It’s long past time that the American people,We the People, start acting like adults and demand accountability. In the pages of this book, common sense ideas and approaches are defined to improve the operations of the federal government, address nagging public policy issues, and reduce the temperature of political debate. Some of the ideas and policies inCommon Sense Governancehave previously been described in Mr. Ley's hit series of novels,The Ship of State(Books One through Five and The Prequel), but are strong enough to stand on their own as meaningful reforms that should be taken seriously by US policy makers.Since the US Constitution gives wide latitude on how Congress and the President conduct business,16 proposed Constitutional Amendmentsare included to provide much-needed mature guidance to the process of governing this great country of ours.Additionally, theTen Core Principles of American Governanceprovides an important set of values as to how we can and should govern ourselves, just as theGolden RuleandTen Commandmentsdefines how we should live our individual lives. It’s long past time that our political leaders in Washington, DC start looking out for the common interests of all Americans and not the special interests of a few.Richard P. Ley’sCommon Sense Governanceis the perfect place to start.Read more
