Here I share my thoughts on film, tv, books, pop culture and whatever else is on my mind. Today, we’re diving into society’s obsession with beauty and why it shouldn’t define us. From viral trends like "You’re Not Ugly, You’re Just Poor" to films like A Different Man (2024), we’re exploring how our fixation on looks shapes the way we value ourselves and others. What if beauty wasn’t everything? What if it didn’t matter if you were “ugly” or not? Join me as I challenge these ideas and shift the focus to what truly makes us valuable. 📼Letterboxd: https://boxd.it/4qpvx 📼Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/hc._lani/ 📼Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/user/66yerlthht286rakduignt9nm?si=ec155c1d66e94a88 MUSIC: Intro music by (prod. cierce) or @deadboytunes Background music by yogic beats - ‘amore’ TIMESTAMPS: 0:00 Intro 3:15 Pretty Privilege 10:07 Our Fear of Ugly 13:46 The Other Side of Ugly 16:41 Body Neutrality vs. Body Positivity 21:31 Shifting Our Values 24:11 Outro
