Discover our Masters Programmes: https://www.graduateinstitute.ch/master-phd-programmes Kirsten Henderson moved from Vancouver to Geneva to pursue a master's in Anthropology and Sociology at the Geneva Graduate Institute. In this interview, she talks about what pushed her to make that move, what the experience actually looks like day to day, and what surprised her. She covers the diversity of her cohort, the professors who forced her to rethink her assumptions about human rights and social theory, and what it means to study international affairs in the city where it actually happens. She also shares what it was like to attend UN sessions like the UPR and CEDAW, get involved in TEDx, and co-host the Thinking Out Loud webinar series. If you are considering studying in Geneva or at the Graduate Institute, this is a ground-level look at what year one is actually like. 00:00 Meet Kirsten 00:29 Why Geneva 00:42 International Cohort 01:22 Courses and Faculty 01:33 Rethinking Human Rights 01:58 Social Theory Deep Dive 02:39 Inside the UN 03:21 Campus Projects 03:52 Year One Takeaways
