UNSC deadlocked as Hormuz draft resolution fails to secure Russia & China’s support

Deskripsi

Representatives from dozens of countries appealed for de-escalation and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz at the UN Security Council as tensions in the key waterway continue to rise. Disruptions to shipping through one of the world’s most critical oil chokepoints are driving up fuel prices and putting further strain on the global economy. A Bahrain-led draft resolution that would have authorised member states to implement coordinated defensive measures to keep the strait open failed to secure support from Russia and China. The deadlock has exposed persistent divisions within the council, while the crisis continues to unsettle global trade and regional stability.
