Ukraine, Russia, or Belarus: Who Inherits Kyivan Rus?

Deskripsi

Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus all share the cultural legacy of Kyivan Rus—just like Western European nations share the legacy of Ancient Rome! But defining this medieval empire by modern borders is problematic. Its Rurikid rulers were initially Scandinavian, and the realm was a multicultural patchwork of Slavs, Finns, Balts, and Turkic peoples. Add in trade and war with the Eastern Romans and nomadic tribes, and you have a deeply complex, multilayered society. #KyivanRus #SlavicHistory #HistoryShorts #UkraineHistory #RussianHistory #MedievalHistory #EasternEurope
